|In 1990, the Veneto regional government created the Natural Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites on the historical, collective and undivided property of the Regole.
The Comunanza of the Regole d’Ampezzo was entrusted by the regional government with the management of the Park "because of the specificity of the ancient forms of management of the Ampezzo natural resources, that have been preserved and safeguarded for hundreds of years by the Regole".
The creation of the park has acknowledged also the environmental effectiveness of the secular collective management of the territory.
The protected area covers a surface of 11,200 hectares. To the north it borders with the Natural Park of Fanes-Senes-Braies, and together they form a protected area with homogeneous environmental characteristics which stretches over a total surface of 37,000 hectares.
